And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:16-19 (KJV)
My focus here is on the phrase “boldness in the Day of Judgment.” Boldness here is the same as confidence, assurance. That means approaching the day of judgment without fear, panic, or trembling, with a heart firmly fixed, doubting nothing or wondering if the verdict will go against. It means that it is possible in this life, in this side of heaven to live in the firm persuasion that we are on the right side of love. The final judgments are all still in the future both the judgment seat of Christ and the great White Throne Judgment. But we ought to know and understand that we are daily living amid temporal judgment or a foretaste of it. If we live daily a life dominated and driven by the Love of God, we will be able to escape these present judgments.
