Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Matthew 7:24-27
The Lord Jesus emphatically declares here that His word is the rock. The infallible foundation. The indestructible, true foundation that no science, knowledge, or modern discoveries can weaken. He bemoans the futility of human endeavors and toils that do not have the word as their foundation. Nothing and no one past, present, or future can make a dent in the solid foundation. Noah built on the foundation of God’s word and when every labor of man of his time sank his toil survived. As this present civilization built on sand is being daily pounded and cracking, those who have taken the patience to build on God’s word can be sure that their toil has an eternal reward and is under God’s watchful eyes.
