Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
Matthew 4:8-11 (KJV)
Out of the three temptations, I want to focus today on this third one. The devil showed to Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. All in exchange for worship? That should show us Satan’s hunger for worship. That also reveals that the first and the second temptations were just a prelude to the real thing. Quest for worship. People should not be deceived. The path of temptation and sins, if followed, will ultimately end up in devil worship. This is the mother of all wars and conflicts. It began in heaven and it continues till today. The battle for worship.Yours in Christ, Pastor Festus Nsoha
