The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
Psalm 110:1-3 (KJV)
The exalted Savior, seated on the right hand of power now exacts His mighty influence over His enemies through His body, the Church. From the day of Pentecost, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples ushered in the reign of Christ through the Church. The Lord can only operate through His body to subdue His enemies, and there is a great lesson to be learned for all of us. If the Church is the scepter of His power, we should also know that we cannot win the battles of life over our enemies without the Church.
