It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
Psalm 92:1-5 + 10
Using the same oil in frying your chips or fish or whatever for a long time affects the taste and freshness of the food, so also in our spiritual lives. God knows that after we have gone through a turbulent season, we need a fresh oil of the anointing. That is why in Acts 2 all the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and again in chapter 4, after a turbulent period of pressure and persecution, they again cried to God for a fresh touch. And we read that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spake God’s word with boldness. Fresh infilling brings fresh boldness. It may be the time for oil change.
