At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:25-30
A careful study of these scriptures will have a profound impact on our hearts. It means that it is God who would choose to reveal Himself to someone. And that unless He chooses so and reveals Himself, nobody would know Him. When we also consider what the Lord Jesus said in John 6:44: nobody can come to me except the Father draws Him! Now that is very humbling. So, it is not by my struggles and human efforts. It is God that makes the first move. Yes, He gives signs and sees how we respond to them and if we even care for the knowledge of God. If Moses did not turn to know why the bush was not consumed, he would have lost the sacred opportunity to have a living encounter with the Living God.
